I guess I’m asking what you used for the cable.? I see it’s sleeved.
And where did u get it lol
Ok, gotcha.
The black part is 5MM bicycle brake cable housing. I bought a 25’ piece from a local bike shop. Similar to this:
The cable inside I already had. Fishing gear.
I have more of the cable. May be able to spare some pieces. I’ll see how much I have when I get home. The housing - yer on yer own.
I was ready to order the housing off the internet and then found a shop that builds recumbent bikes locally. He hooked me up.
Sweet if u got extra ill buy some lol, as far as springing it back how fast does it shut off when you let go of the line? What kind of pulley is that?
It shuts right off. I think my wife was easing it back in the video, but it’s quick.
The pulley connected to the handle is called a block. It is sailing hardware. Picked it up at the local West Marine store. Similar to this one.
It just needs to have a connection point on both ends. The other I picked up at Tractor Supply for about $3. It probably could be modified to work on the handle.

OK, I have a pretty good spool of the cable left. If you two guys want a piece shoot me a PM with your address and I’ll drop it in the mail. I have a piece already cut that’s a little over 12’ or can cut you a 20 footer, unless you got a bigazz truck and need it longer.
Here are a couple of pics that may give you a better idea of what I used. The brake cable housing has a wire reinforced core and plastic inside and outside of the wire.
When I was at the bike shop, I looked at the brake cable that is used for bikes. It is probably twice the diameter of what I used. I wanted some slop in it so it would slide easily. I don’t think the actual brake cable would have worked for me in my application.
Here is another pulley I found on Grainger that should work. They may have others that will work too. Just need to look around there.
Thanks for the offer, but right now I’m trying to do mine electrically.
The cable just had me curious because I didn’t know where you’d get one that long. The spool at the bike shop makes sense.
Sent a PM! thanks
to bad i park the truck at the end of this month for winter gonna be killing me no be able to work on it till next year
Yeah, that’s a bummer. I’ll get it in the mail tomorrow.
Been tweeking the setup the last few days. Bought a leader hose and installed that. I had previously said the horn inlet was 3/8". It is not. I had a 3/8" push connect fitting in it with 3/8" OD hose. The hole is 1/4" NPT. The 3/8" push connect fitting inside diameter is 7/32" (hex shaped). A 1/4" pipe nipple is 5/16" ID. I replaced all the push connect 3/8" fittings and went with 1/2" compression fittings and 1/2" OD hose throughout. Should be a significant increase in air flow to the horn. Letting the last of the fittings sit for a day to set (used pipe sealant vs the teflon tape). It’s hard not to go fire it up but I’m trying to be patient.
I hope it improves for you. At least you don’t have to wonder any more.
Tons of props on the pulley system!! Love it!!
