If it kicks on everytime you start it, that means you have a leak… or 5 lol… Any small leak that normally looses only a couple psi in warm weather will turn into loosing 20+ psi in cold… Now with the cold night we were getting last week (down to low 30’s) my tank will drop 20 psi a night … I know where my leaks are but i just gotta find time to crawl under and fix em!
Remember if its taking a real long time to fill the tank your best bet is to shut it off… You dont wanna risk burning up the compressor … It most prob has a thermal shutdown switch but thats one trigger you dont want it to hit .
I wired the pressure switch to one of my upfitter switches. As long as #4 is switched on, if the pressure drops below 165psi, my compressors will come on and fill the tank to 200psi. If I turn off #4, then my compressors never come on. My horn itself is wired to #1. My lower foglights are wired to #3. Once I get the Warn 16.5Ti winch, then that will go on #2.
you got it… Fill spray bottle with water. add a squirt or 2 of soap and shake up.
Your best bet for a ZERO leak install is to use loctite 545… All the fittings that i used this on are 100% leak free. And you are able to take it back apart if need be…
i used pipe dope on all my fittings to solve leak issues, teflon tape sucks.
here in KY it does not get nearly as cold as it does up where you all are from, but my air system has been through one winter, and nothing changed really other than my compressor running more often due to the cold weather.
the main issue i have is we get down below freezing at nights here, 20* or so, then will warm up to 50 during the afternoon. if i fill my tank when it is cold out, the heat of the day will cause the pressure to build and actually blow off my relieve valve in the middle of the day due to the excess pressure build up from the warmer air. and vise versa. if i fill my tank during the day, the cold air at night will condense the air causing my compressor to kick on again
