K5's on a train vs. on a pickup

Yes sir I have looked over your install several times,I hope I can do mine as clean as yours. It wont be too big a deal, since Ive done plenty of air bag suspensions on trucks and cars, horns are pretty much the same process just a little less work.Only thing I have to figure out is a mount for the horns.I will be mounting them inside where the spare was,so I need like a 6" drop bracket to bolt the horns to so the bells will clear the tire carrier.I prolly would have been better off with a K5H manifold, that prolly would have gave me the drop I need to clear everything.Has anybody had to make a mount for their horns? Pics or ideas?

could always mount them seperate with the braackets curt s makes.

Borntoride, I will trade you a k5h manifold for your low manifold. What i did was cut the tire bracket off with a torch and bolted a custom bracket there for the horns.

^ Come on now! I thought we were high mount pals. lmao!

I dont really care to do that,I want to keep it original…I want to make the L manifold work, but if not I will consider the swap…I have access to a machine shop and tig welder so im sure I can figure out something…I also have to make some spacers to make the air tank work on the inside of frame rail.

yeah im there with you i just wanted to put it out there i know when i finally get mine soon i wanna put it on the same manifold as yours. but i know some people dont want to remove the spare and use those

Avfrog, I’m not talking about the one I have on my truck. I have an extra K5H manifold I can spare. So were pals, lol. I’m thinking about adding the k5la I just bought but I don’t know yet.

hell yea dude… your horn is so unbelievably loud and clear in person! Best horn ive heard in person… I would love to have myh k3 on top but i want to keep it hidden / discreet as possible.

Ah well you’ll be able to handle this no prob then.

My guess is that your spare tire mount must be somewhat similar to mine in size… As you can see in my pics, all I did was crank the cable back up into the spare tire mount once I dropped the tire. Then I drilled holes in the tire mounting bracket itself and mounted the manifold. The cable and hook hangs down but it doesn’t get in the way of the horns. Otherwise, I have seen pics on here of guys who have made a drop plate by bending and welding steel to mount their horns to. I was trying to avoid having to go through that.

Thanks Man!! its an older one so they sound the best for sure!!
