Shocker CLassic 228VX on a Chevy HHR

I read your post about wife pranking you…LOL
I see where your advise came from now. (LOL)

Do you think that a 5 gallon would fit in the spare tire well of compact car (Nissan Versa HB)???

Please lmk, I wanna order the right size tank.
Either I’m doing a 5gal or 2 two gallons 0r 3gal.; depends…

Don’t want to worry about my horn conking out in the middle of me letting someone one “This is my lane, Buddy”… LOL

Not familiar with the boot of a Nissan Versa (do they run a space saver tire or regular size?). Just taking a guess here, but I’d put my money on the answer being no. You might be able to find a low profile pancake tank (e.g. below from hornbalsters).

Measure your depth and diameter of the recess, then check against the specs of the tank. Keep in mind that you will still need to consider the air fittings that get connected and that’s where you’re most likely to run into trouble, even if you use elbows on everything.

If you have fold-down rear seats, consider building a raised floor section (i.e. box) that’s the same height as the dropped seat. I did that in the 4x4 like this:

The 5 gallon tank, compressor etc. all sits inside that (recessed into the tire well). You’ll have less space to play with in the Nissan, so stick with a Shocker kit on a car like that as it gives you the ultimate flexibility. I didn’t build a box around the one in the Swift, but if it squeezed in sideways in that, I’m sure you’ll have no issues doing likewise. Not much room lost with a kit like that.

The 2 gallon tanks are fine with a set of horns like that. You obviously won’t be able to lean on the horn button like a lunatic, but you’ll still get plenty of fun to scare the living cr@p out of people. If you’re looking for options to change the kit, invest in a faster compressor because that will give you quicker refill times.

Spoke to Hornblasters/Rigo - he told me a pancake would NOT work well for my application bc the ports are all on top w. that tank.

I should have said this earlier; I cant even see my trunk much less under it…

I’m reaching out on all the Nissan VERSA forums to see if anybody has the measurements bc I don’t want to mess with the setup till it’s time…
Here’s a pic I found on one of the forums…

I read that someone put a full size - 185/65R15 tire in there and it fit.
approx. 26" x 9" pic attached.

Worse case scenario I’ll run a 3 gallon but then I will have to buy a 2nd tank when I upgrade later…

Looking into VIAR 400c as my preferred compressor, btw…

HAHA… Holy cow batman! What u need a train horn for man?.. just record a K5 on the iPod. With a rig like that I’m surprised you still have ears… yet alone a piece of glass in your hatchback

Honestly though… I reckon you’ll have a bunch of trouble squeezing in a compressor and tank assembly under all of that. I suppose you’ve checked under the car. You can get some real slim long tanks. There’s probably some room under the rear bumper for the compressor but you’ll need a longer leader hose if you start separating the tank and compressor.

It’ll be a fun/challenging project … that’s for sure.

So after many internet searches I think I may have a solution. Low Rider Depot makes a 5 gallon that should just fit; I HOPE!!!

LRD-5 Gallon Aluminum Air Tank
4 x 1/2" ports on face
25" L x 8" D
PN 111195

Hope this helps anyone else with same situation. I will post pics of install in near future…
