I have a new 200 psi triple horn system but horns just squeak at 200 psi and will not sound right until air pressure is down to 120psi. Can’t figure it out any help appreciated.
what kind of horns? Where did you purchase them? and what kit is it? That way we get a better idea of whats up Seems like a off tune issue similar to the shockers.
It’s not uncommon for horns to sound weird if the pressure is too high Perhaps regulate their air flow to 120psi and call it a day? In addition to fixing their sound, that’s more honk time, too…
My son bought them from superior horns & they are Viking Elite horns. Have thought about regulating them to 120 because they sound great there. My question then is would a regulator let enough air volume through to horns??
Depends on the regulator you purchase. You’d need to compare its flow rate to the required flow for the horns…
Ok thanks for the info & suggestions Im going to call them Monday & see if I can get some flow specs for my horns. Probably just gonna regulate the air.
200psi systems are under a LOT of stress. You wouldn’t need to get too fancy with the regulator seeing it’s small pipes and horns. I would actually opt for an adjustable pressure switch instead and run the whole system at 150 or less. It all looks like cheap no-name stuff and you probably can’t expect much life out of it. Price up your cheapest fix possible because you’ll want to avoid just throwing good money after bad.
