Just finished installing my new Shocker S4 Locomotive Train Horn Kit with ViAir 20007 on my 08 Toyota Tacoma. The easy part was building and mounting the four horns. I used two pieces of aluminum, drillled some holes, mounted the horns, and then used pre-existing holes to mount the frame. The hard part was trying to figure out where to put the compressor. The only available spot on the frame is underneath the driver side. Aside from that, I would’ve had to put it in the truck bed, which I didn’t really want to do. I used 5/16 thick steel and fabricated a c shape bracket to mount over the vehicle frame. After the bracket was put together, I spray-painted it with rustolium to prevent corrosion and then used four bolts to secure the bracket to the frame. Next I mounted the air tank and compressor to the bracket. All wiring and air lines were run through the truck frame for protection. I used a relay when wiring power to the compressor and hooked it up to one of my accessories that is only on when the truck is running to prevent the compressor from running when the truck is off. The only fabrication done to the vehicle itself were four holes drilled into the frame for the compressor bracket, all other accessories were mounted using pre-existing holes.
I had a air horn off of a semi-truck on my last pick-up, but nothing compares to the sound that this train horn makes. Its amazing. I smile everytime I hear it sound.
Welcome, nice ride and clean install i like it!
you say you had a semi horn as in one,on your last truck. I have a 96 tacoma , like 3 threads down, I have 4 semi horns and a tank off of the semi truck ,and the compressor is mounted inside my rear bumper. , I know some other ppl that have your setup and compared my horns to theres, the shockers are deeper but I cant say louder. plus mine were free.
badass truck with badass horns
That red toggle switch on your dash. Is that part if the kit or is it seperate? Where did you pick it up
check at autozone, autoparts…
Hey thanks bwoods2005. I own a 2009 tacoma and i was gettin on here tonight to figure out how to mount my horns. The way you did that looks pretty clean and i think thats the way i am going to do it. One question? did you have to take the grill or any of the fromt part of the truck off to get to that? i know it sounds like a dumb question. Mine should be here wed or thurs. how thick is that metal that you used to mount the horns. Thanks for any input or advice you can give me.
Nice install dude…tucked away nice and tidy… you guys have such big bloody trucks
I wish i could get ahold of him i got a 2009 tacoma and ive been tryin to do that to mine the whole night and still cant get it right.
Da better to run you over with…
where did you get your hose? i have my compressor mounted above the front right wheel well under the hood, with the tank mounted under the truck, beneath the drivers seat, with the horns almost similar to your setup. the problem is my hose… it keeps busting…
bwoods - do you have any pics of your mounting bracket for the tank/compressor?
Nice install! Now onto the constructive criticism That Air source unit under the truck like that will not last. The air filter will suck up road debris and moisture. You will want to remote mount that as high and dry as you can. In addition to the fact that the way the air source unit is sitting you can not drain the moisture from the tank at the drain cock. So you will have to dismount the unit and drain it ever so frequently to insure your components will last!

i was wondering if you can report back to us on how the device has held up. any troubole with it being exposed to the elemnets?
I’ve just checked “bwoods” profile and activity & he has not logged back on here since May 2009.
