Hi All.
The problem I’m having is that the airhorn when at pressure works for about 2 seconds . I connected the air horn to my vehicle hooter so after 2 seconds I hear my vehicles standard horn .
As soon as I let go of the vehicle hooter and press it again the air horn works again for 2 seconds . There is adequate air as I have ± 5 gallons
The airhorn works continuously and loudly when the pressure is lower ie just before the compressor activates or even while the compressor is running .
What could be the reason? As the pressure is regulated by the pressure switch recieved from horn blasters
Regards
Hey Chamastar, welcome to the community!
We’re glad to have you here.
Based on your description, it sounds like your air horn may be experiencing an issue related to airflow restriction or solenoid function. Here are a few things to check:
Solenoid valve issue: the solenoid could be sticking or not staying open under full pressure. Try testing it with direct 12v power to see if it remains open continuously.
Airflow restriction: check if there are any kinks, restrictions, or blockages in your airline that could be limiting air delivery when at full pressure.
Tank pressure vs. Output pressure: while your system holds ±5 gallons, high pressure could be restricting airflow. Try adjusting the pressure regulator (if applicable) to see if that changes performance.
Wiring & relay check: since the horn works when pressure is lower, there could be an issue with the wiring or relay triggering the solenoid. Ensure the relay is rated properly and connections are secure.
If you could confirm your setup details—tank pressure, solenoid model, and any regulators in place—we can help troubleshoot further!
