$600 To Spend. What Kit Should I Get?

I’m sealin the deal on one of these long awaited HB Train Horn kits at the end of this week!

Lookin to drop about $600 MAX… What should I get?

I originally wanted the Shocker 232, But now I got a bit more change and heard it’d be best with the 240 because of the 5G tank? Is that the only difference between the 2?

Conductor’s Special Model 540 Train Horn Kit
$584.99

Think they’ll cut me a deal with that price and free shipping? I heard HB is pretty flexible with their customers?

Get a K3 and a 5 gallon tank!

i will second that…k3la is a beast!! the price will hit your wallet at first…but once they are paid for and on…its amazing… i actually thought something was wrong with mine last night i said “no way this is suppose to be this loud”!! ha ha!!

I was kinda thinking about that route, but where could I get a k3, tank, compressor, all the airlines, pressure switch and everything else for $600! lol

You might be about 80 bucks over your budget, but it’ll be worth it :).

Seriously though. it’ll be worth it… If I was in your situation, I would go with any real train horn if I got the chance.

give em a call… See what kinda deal they can pull for ya!

You say 80? where would I buy the horn and stuff? from HB?

I will tmrw fasho

sig test.

1 400C refurbished from $110-$140. Assorted fittings and wiring $50-$85. Hose $25-$35. Pressure switch $15-$50. K3 $400.

You can get all of it from HB (which would be a tad more expensive, no offense HB), or try going locally to a store like Walmart or something.

It’s a rough estimate, but if you REALLY wanted a train horn, you could pull this off.

How bout this if it’s still available?

^^^ That looks about perfect. A real trainhorn on a budget.
Looks like all you would need is some misc wire & airline.

You might want a bigger tank later, but this would def get you going.

How much would everything else to get it running cost?

Well, you need a 10-12ga wire from your battery to the relay - with a fuseholder.
you need ~18ga~ from your 'key-on source to the pressure switch.
you might want a toggle switch for a master compressor shutoff.

Airline & fittings are the question.
Would you use the Nathan manifold or the Aluminum brackets?
If you use the separate brackets, you’ll also need a splitter manifold like Curt S sells…and more fittings.

I think if you use the Nathan manifold, you could get everything else you need for the remaining $50 of your budget…lol

You know what - I forgot - you’ll need a 1/2" solenoid valve too. So add $49. Dang it!

That’s a bit steep, I think I’ll just go with the shocker 540, Heard great reviews about em. That’s all I wanted to begin with, thanks for the help…

And one more thing… How do I mount the shocker horns under my truck? They don’t have bracket mounts?

And would the compressor be safe under my hood?

You can make a custom bracket and bolt it up their, I had a custom bracket made for them under my hood.

Yea I was think bout buyin some sheet metal and bolted them on under the truck, but would also like to put them behid the grill cuz I got room… And no chance of getting stolen. I’m looking for the most sound, though I’m sure it will still scare people shitless reguardless lol.

Yea, no matter where they are, you will be heard LOL
