a leak that doesnt leak

ok so i FINALLY got my 550c hooked up and everything works great. bit the compressor pumps up to 150 and kicks off. within about 20-30sec the psi drops to 135-140 than stays there. I do have a small leak (about 10psi/hr) but why the sudden drop then stop?

because the area where its leaking can appearently hold the 135psi… it just does lol

same thing happens to mine. comp stops at 125. drops to around 120 (or sometimes 115 depending on temp) then stops there. narrowed it down to the blow off valve letting some off then stopping after a few moments.

air gets hot when compressed but as it cools in the tank the pressure drops. it is very normal but usually takes a little longer than a few seconds to cool down.
it might be one of the thread seals isn’t as strong as it should be. some guys like teflon tape but Loc-tite is much better.

If the safety is unseating itself you might need a new one. The seat could be damaged inside, or the spring giving out.

ok i have a few extra safety valves and i’ll fix the one leak i know about. i’ll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the help

I probably need a new one. and it’s probably the spring giving out since I got it for free. and it’s a bit old.
