Adding a compressor question

right now i have a Viair 480C and im looking at getting one more, can i splice the two together and be done? Or do i have to up my fuse? do i need any relays?

Another option im looking at is adding Dual Viair 380C to my one 480C…again do i just splice them and up the fuse?

Also what is the purpose of the relay?

Any help would greatly be appreciated

  • Each compressor needs its own relay, but you can use a common pressure switch as long as you use a separate relay for each compressor. You don’t want to pull max amps through your pressure switch. It will kill the pressure switch prematurely from high amp draw.
  • Depending on what size fuse you’re running, you may not have to change the fuse.
  • Each 480C pulls 20 amps, so plan your fusing accordingly.
  • Be sure to run a large enough gauge wire from the battery - 4 gauge seems to do the trick nicely for most setups.
  • Be picky about the quality of your grounds. -It can make all the difference in the world for your setup.
