My Chinese Compressor/3L tank is dying. The piston gets stuck in worn sleeve and i have to wack it now and then (more now)…
So i have been checking out some viair compressors and assorted tanks.
I eyed up a chrome 5 gal. 9 port tank w/cosmetic damage for $50 shipped.
And assorted viair compressors…
—What would be the ideal Viair for a 5gal tank ?
–What is the minimum # of ports needed ?
-My horns, hose, solenoid, and wireing are all in place.
I was also looking at some 3 Gal. tanks to keep a bit of extra trunk.
This is in my Mint '95 Q45
I missed a sweet deal here on a used compressor/tank the other day, ddnt jump fast enough.
Thanks,
James
BTY - if anyone has a used setup i’m interested…
ok got everything mounted and working properly.
i do still have to remount my tank and compressor on a board then mount board.
the firestone tanks brackets make it hard to send a self tapping screw in.
i used the same power line to the relay and solenoid, is that ok ???
the 3 gallon tank is awsome compared to the 3 ltr i had…
and the 380 rocks…
bty i have a 1/2 " solenoid
my air horns are wired to my car horn, gonna run a wire and put a toggle to the solenoid ground to switch between the 2 horns…
THE ANSWER IS NO NO u need a direct heavy gague wire from battery to the Relay… Otherwise ur fuse holder will glow MOLTEN hot and fuse will melt and blow…
ran the wire from battery 2night, compressor isa running faster and cooler and the fused line is cool as a cucumber…
while running wires ran a line to switch off the solenoid so as not to be FULL ON all the time…
2 morro gonna buy a switch and wire it up…
Have to go to ebay and buy some stock horns (misplaced mine )…
BTY mad loud
OK - just finished wireing in a solenoid cutoff, which allows just factory horn to fire…
Added a 2nd switch to the compressor line to cut that off as well…
