I have an issue. A few weeks ago I was driving along and my air hose (the one connected to the solenoid) decided to burst. I didn’t think anything of it… it happens. So I replaced it. It was good for about a week then it burst again. So again I replaced it. About 45 mins later… guess what? Yea… I changed it again… about 45min later… Blam!. Anyway. I thought it may be the solenoid. Swapped it out. Same issue about 1/2 hr later. Swapped out the pressure sensor (120 off / 90 on) same issue. Now I’m lost. Idk what keeps making the hose burst. It was good for about a year no issues. Anyone have any suggestions on stopping this from happening? The compressor is cutting off and on as it should once the tank is full. The line feels extremely stiff once the tank is full. The horn blows as it should… but a lil while later the line explodes.
Perhaps a defective air line if you’re cutting new pieces off the same bigger piece. Just a thought.
I have purchased different air lines thinking that too… Same issue
Do you have a picture of where the airline is bursting at? The only thing I can think of in this scenario with the system not going over pressure would be something to do with temperature. Also, what model Hornblasters system is this?
No I didn’t take a pic. But it seems to burst about 8”-12” away from where I have the compressor mounted. I’m starting to believe that it may be the tank. I’m going to see if there’s any water or condensation inside of it. That may be the issue (I hope). It was fine for about 2 years. It’s an outlaw kit.
If you are in a cold area and the condensation is at a high level in your tank, it could freeze and melt in the air line, weakening that air line. Drain the tank and see what that does as well as let us know how much moisture came out of the tank.
I’ve taken the tank completely out and opened the bottom port to drain it… there was water inside and a bit of rust. I left it out to dry for a day before installing it back. It was good for about a week then it popped again. The weather as been brutal in NYC lately but I park inside a garage and the horn only “sees cold weather” when I’m at work.
Post a picture if you can so we can see the pop point surroundings to see if there’s a heat source or a pinch point possible. Any movement of your horn frame work that could be crushing it during acceleration or braking?
