The additional fittings on my system have caused the 1/2 air hose to have to bend severely, which has resulted in two kinks. Air is still getting to the horns, but I don’t believe they’re as loud as they should be.
Now, I did go to ACE hardware and purchase a couple of those white plastic elbow barb connections, in an attempt to cut the air hose and relieve the bending problem. My only problem with them is the fact they look like they’ll severely restrict the amount of air that can go through them, as these fit INSIDE the hose.
Does Viair happen to sell those quick-connect fittings on elbows so I can cut the hose, install them, and not restrict the air flow so much?
I went ahead and purchased 2 of these. They look like they’ll do the job.
you can also get a ptc coupler. So in case you have to mend in a new piece on a straight run, you can cut out the bad and use the coupler to mend in.
That was fast! Got the push-fittings earlier today through FedEx. After changing the oil, oil filter, and air filter, I went ahead, spliced the hose and put one of the fittings on it. Was very easy, a nice, tight fitting, and the whole process from tear-down to clean-up took maybe 10 minutes.
I don’t think anything is leaking; I haven’t heard the compressor kick on since I put everything back together and filled the system up. Haven’t tested the horns yet; other people are sleeping, but I will get to it hopefully soon!
