Ive got a 5 gallon Hoosier tank (sae stamped) and it says 150 psi on it. It was made in 2000 and i dont know how many people had it or used it. My question is can I run a 145 psi off pressure switch off ebay and use a 150 psi pop off valve?
Is the 150 p.s.i. tank label the maximum working pressure?
The 145 p.s.i. cutoff and 150 p.s.i. pop off are too close. Set the cutoff at 150 p.s.i. and the pop off at the next higher available pressure, above the maximum working pressure.
145psi pressure switch is perfect for a 150psi tank. I would use a safety valve that is more in the range of 175psi. It is only for emergencies. A 150psi WP tank has a burst rating that is much higher.
For example, I run 200psi with a 235psi safety valve.
It’ll be a judgment call to whether you feel comfortable with a used tank.
I agree thats why i kinda opted for a 150 psi. Im kinda tight on budget and ive been using the tank now for couple months with a 120 psi press switch but it cuts off at 110 psi which sucks
