Hi guys, ok been trying to find a definitive answer and going around in circles.
Righty, it’s been a while since i’ve been on Hornblasters (should come more often!) and as such see that the Shocker XL kit has changed from the one i bought about 2 or 3 years ago! Looks like the tank and trigger switches have changed from mine?
But with the current £ to $ exchange rate, i want to take the opportunity to do some upgrading, mainly to a bigger tank. I’ll confess, i’m confused with the ports and fitting things on the tanks.
Looking at the 5 gallon tanks for extra honking time, but which one is the one i need for my system?
Do you have a spare 1/2" port on your current tank? You could easily connect it to a new tank. Just plug the rest of the ports and put a drain fitting in the bottom.
Your compressor is probably out of warranty anyway, but they’re really meant for up to 5 gallons. Who says it wouldn’t have a long, happy life filling up 7 gallons though? lol
Just connect the tanks with the same size airline & fittings that are used for the horns.
Re spare 1/2 port, i don’t think i do tbh? This is pic of the tank as i was installing…
I think the spare port is 1/4 as according to the parts section on the main HB page, the pressure switch is 1/4 so i’m assuming the free one is the same.
Looks the best option i think, just to cover all bases of various ports. Does this come with the fittings to blank off spare ports, and how much for postage to UK?
Edit…
Ok been looking at the pic again (annoying as the car isnt here)
The lead from the compressor to the tank looks like its going to a reducer that was upplied with the kit. If i think im right, i can put the compresser without reducer directly in the port next to the pressure switch, and that will free up a 1/2 port?
So getting new parts. Obviously the tank, what else will i need, do still have to have a drain valve, pressure release etc on the new tank… and most importantly, how do i link the two tanks?
I see a PTC on your existing tank for the horns. You need 2 of those and some airline.
You need a drain on each tank because water will collect in them both. Plug any unused ports. When complete, they are essentially one big tank…no need for additional safety valves.

The tank does not come with plugs for the ports. We have new 1/4" brass plugs ($1.40) and 3/4" steel plugs ($1.50) available. We also have unused steel plugs (70 cents each) for all 3 port sizes from new 10 gallon tanks that we build into complete systems.

Hello Stu,
I do have a selection of brass fittings, I got drain cocks, 1/2" push fit for the pipe & blanks. Tell me exactly what you need and I will see what I can do
