Air Zenith Adjustable Pressure Switch

Hi,

I am installing dual viair 480c’s. I have a manchester tank rated at 200psi. The switch that came with my compressors is 165-200, and the pop valve is 200psi as well. I’m pretty sure this will cause a continuous cycle and the compressors will never shut off. So I ordered an Air Zenith adjustable switch thinking I would set it at like 190 psi. After I ordered it, I read that an adjustable switch will void the warranty on my compressors. Need some input here. Do you think it will be a problem? If not, does can anyone point me to a wiring diagram? I am putting my compressors on seperate relays and 40 amp fuses, but I can’t find the amp rating of the Air Zenith??

Thanks,
Matt

Pics of tank! Is it an ASME tank or DOT tank?
Probably just get a 235psi safety valve & be done with it…

If for some reason you get that pressure switch - just use it to trip 2 relays.

Welcome to the forums.

Not sure, but I think it’s a propane tank maybe? It doesn’t say on the plate if it’s DOT or ASME.
I only paid $25 for it, so heck of a deal.

get a 110/150 psi pressure switch or one that cuts off at 175psi…

Cool… 10 gallons?
Does that tag have a model number on it?

I second that.

Easiest thing to do here is to get a 250psi pop off valve for your tank, $7.49 at most TSC around.

Yea thats great advise. A 250psi poper for a tank rated 200psi. Thanks but no thanks.

working pressure & burst pressure are 2 different things.
I see where you’re coming from, but the HB tanks are rated at 150. They say you can run 200psi and they give you a 235psi safety valve.

So, I hear ya, but wouldn’t worry about it…

i agree but not cuz of the tank rating… its because i would not want my compressors running up to 250psi…

Alright I see you have no idea about tank ratings and burst ratings! Like ear2ear just said most tanks are rated for 150psi but are run up to 200psi and supplied with 235 popoff valves. You came on here because you needed advise so don’t take it so hard when it’s given. My aluminum tank is rated at 150psi with a burst pressure of 700psi.

Scaredu, I’m meaning the safety valve. The pressure switch he has is 200psi.

hunter i know what u mean…but if the pressure switched malfunctions and doesnt shut off at 200 psi… that means your compressors will continue to run until the safety valve psi is reached and relieves some psi…i wouldn’t want my compressors building up to that psi…would void warranty anyways…

When I bought my comps from hb they supplied me with a 235 psi popvalve and I bought a 150psi pressure switch. Since they provided it is my warranty still voided if the pressure switch fails?

awwww c’mon scaredu - if you use that logic then nobody should run a 200psi PS which pretty much requires a 235psi safety valve.

Pressures switches might fail. It might take out a compressor in the process. Unlikely if it goes to 235 once, but still it’s not the compressor company’s fault. I can’t see a warranty covering that.

hopefully lance will get on and answer if it will void warranty or not…i would rather not have my compressor get to that psi…thats me…u can do what u wish…

So is the pressure poper more to protect the compressor or to keep the tank from xploding? What are the inline check valves for?

A popoff safety valve is to prevent your tank from bursting in case your pressure switch fails or on a really hot summer day. The pressure switch is what you wire up your relays and compressors with to cutt them off at a desired psi. The inline check valves are to prevent backflow from the tank into the compressors.
