alarm horns

so i have my switch for my horns wired into my map lights. funny thing is about 20 min after closing my door the 12vhot to the map lights turns off. so then my horns wont honk. the alarm will just honk the stock horn. but as soon as you open the door the 12v returns to the map lights.

I was gonna fix this by running a 12v constant to the switches but i got to thinking about how this could work to my advantage.

here is the senario
I park my truck at work and set the alarm. thunder storm rolls in later (after 20min period) and sets my alarm off. no biggie. the alarm just goes off with the stock horn. (noone has a anurism<sp> cause of the shockers)

senario2
Park truck at work. 2 hrs later a lil theif breaks my window out (setting off the alarm w/stock horm) for a quick smash and grab. he reaches in and unlocks my door. as soon as he opens that door the shockers turn on. Thief pee’s himself and passes out next to my truck for me to kick and cops to arrest.

lol what you guys think?

but u said 20 mins right? hell be gone by then lol

it takes 20 min for the 12v to turn off. as soon as you open the door the 12v comes back instantly

well how much air you got???thats the question your horn will do this…
pppoooaaaaaaa pppoooaaaaaaa pppoooaaaaaaa ,pooa pooa poa poa pooo…psssss nothing at all…

5 gal. but when the door is opened it also turns on the relay that give the ACC for the the compressor. so when the alarm is going off my 550c will kick on too. its will take awile for it to run out of air.

OUt of ALL the possible places you could find a 12V power source, HOW ON EARTH did you make it to the map lights? That compressor running with your car off is gonna kill your battery.

if it takes long enough.ur battery will be under 10volts and the truck wont turn on…aslo if u have fuses they will blow…cause when the volts go down amps go up…so ur air will die out fast…

A truth

yeah but my batt would be the last thing on my mind if someone was actually breaking into my truck.

I tapped into the map lights cause my switches are in my overhead console. the map lights already have a 12v acc so i used it. that power wire isnt running the valves or compressor. it is ran to a relay that has its own dedicated power straight to the batt.

yes i do see the point of it running the battery down. but the alarm will only alarm for 30 sec. lets say the compressor kicks on after 10 sec. and the tank ends up empty. compressor takes 5min (estimnated, i dunno the exact time) to fill the tank from empty to full. that means if the alarm is set off the compressor will only be running for 5min 20 sec.

all in all it might drain the batt but atleast i would have a stereo to listen to and a truck to drive.

How are you going to drive with a dead battery? (I’m just messin with ya.)

i got it all figured out lol. i keep a jump box AND cables under my back seat lol

I got a set of psycho blasters hooked up to alarm to when it goes off, so does the psychoblasters… Actually psychoblasters , stock horn , siren , and piezo siren goes off… But at night i just flip a switch and turn off lead to the solenoid so it doesnt activate just in case of a false… but other 3 still do

My K5s are hooked to my alarm and some fool tried to rip off my truck while I was at the movies.I am sure he crapped himself when he opened the door after breaking the drivers side door lock.

MAnnnn. Ha that would be so funny to see the security tape. You dont even have to worry about calling the cops.
