Alright just ordered the horns, need advice?

I just ordered the Conductor’s Special Model 248 Train Horn Kit. It should be here in a few days. I have a 2009 toyota tacoma extended cab. I have a tool box in the bed. what i am wonderin is should i mount everything under the truck or in the tool box? I think i am going to put the horns behind the grill but i dont know which way i should mount them. If it were your truck and set up would you put it in the tool box or try to sqeeze it under the truck? Or should i mount the compressor in the engine compartment and put the tank under the truck or in the box. Give me some suggestions? i just need some advice.

I’d mount the tank and compressor in the tool box if you can. It’d keep everything nice and clean. Horns will be fine behind the grill.

well thats what i was thinking i just didnt know if it needed to be closer to the batt

You don’t have to run it close to the battery as long as you have a thick enough wire to make the run with loss. I run 4Ga wire from the battery to the back of the truck to run 2 compressors.

Also, I would mount the compressor / tank in the toolbox, that will keep it out of the weather, and running for a long time. If you mount it under the truck, you will have to remote mount the air filter, and create a “protection” barrier so the compressors don’t get wet and what not.

So, definately in the bed of the truck in the toolbox.

Show em off!!! lol… joking…

Hey N2ocharged, your truck is the nutz… everytime I see pics of it… awesome…

Alright thanks now all i got to do is wait on it to get here. im curious to see how loud it is. Is that constant duty 480c a good compressor?

Its pretty loud… you will eventually want a Nathan AirChime K3 or K5 (They are louder)

the 480c is a good compressor as far as I know…

Yeah i might want a louder one later but i just can see spending that much money on a tarin horn unless i got a good deal on it. Those things are really expensive
