Anyone have train horn for Ram 1500?

I have an 05 Ram 1500 Short bed regular cab, and just purchased the Shocker Classic 228VX Train Horn Kit. I didn’t start installing it yet, and have a few questions. Where is the best place to mount the compressor? I was thinking either in bed of truck or inside truck in the space behind the seats(bad idea?). I also plan to mount the horns somewhere underneath the truck. Should all 4 horns be facing the same direction? Can I have 2 face forwards and 2 face backwards? Do I have to worry about water/mud or any debris getting in or on the horns? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well mounting the compressor is going to be your preference. You may want to put it in your bed just because it would be less noise. No, the horns do not have to be facing the same direction. you can have all 4 of them facing any way you want…and water no not necessarily, mud and debris would be the biggest concern but its hardly one unless you live in the woods…you can always wash the horns out as well.

I started with a VX228 kit too…I’m not sure how waterproof the compressor would be if you have it mounted in the bed. I HAD to put mine inside the car (obvious once you look at what car I put it in…LOL). The compressor isn’t overbearingly loud to begin with. If I were putting it in a truck bed I think I’d want to put it in a protective box, at least.
