hello,
i had an idea for a valve for my train horns and wanted to know if anybody else has done this or tried it. i am currently running the electric solonied to push the button to honk my K5’s. i have seen other that use the valve with the handle. i was thinking about possibly setting mine up like in a big truck that has the chain/string/something hanging down and i reach up and pull it. does anybody have a setup like that and can that valve handle the K5’s?

A standard lanyard valve (like those used for truck horns) won’t flow enough air for a K5. Look at this for a potential idea:

oh yea, i have seen that thread. that is a nice setup and took alot of time to figure that out. not sure if i have the smarts for that. i figured the ones in the big trucks would now flow enough or i would of seen others with a setup like that. thanks for the information.
You could always go electronic - keep the solenoid and use a momentary switch (even a micro switch) on a lanyard to trigger it.
I agree with DBO, since you already have your electric seloniod it would be a very easy mod to add a simply pull cord
