I’m not sure if this is the right place for this but… I’m a total newb here.
Is it possible to install a train horn on a Peterbilt’s existing air system or would it use to much air and cause low air warnings? Anyone with experience with semi’s here?
I’ve got a friend who put one on his Kenworth, a Leslie even, and he used the existing air. Sounds cool too.
Thanks for the reply! So it can be done without installing another compressor and tank? I’m not looking to scare people, more of a safety thing…
One of my dad’s buddies has the sickest semi known to man! (to me anyway) He uses it to pull around his racing hauler and he has a set of K3’s on it…I think thats what it was. He has put more money into it then for what he bought for it. I will hopefully getting some pics later since he is on the road now racing. Anyway it is set up through the existing air source.
He didn’t add another tank or compressor. Hope this helps!
And sorry, a little off-topic but this truck is the sickest imo lol…
Helpful info thanks! Oh my god! I think I just had a truckergasm!
hahahah… that truck is awesome
Dude pretty close in style on the truck I am talking about. If this is your buddies truck this is a nice truck. But i will be getting some pics up hopefully soon
You can go off topic as much as you like!!! That truck is seriously SICKO!!
Thats so cool!! Look at them Stacks!!
Thats Bad donkey!
Most of the people I know with Semi’s have PTO driven compressors which can deliver a lot of air. I doubt you’ll need anything else but don’t quote me on that.
That’s is a beautiful truck!
slo hatch or will… i dont know if he switched his name. on the forums has horns on his tow truck, using the existing pto, the thing is they only have so many psi… so depending on how much air pressure you want depends if it will work for you or not
That’s true, the PTO’s I’ve seen aren’t rated for 200 PSI but some of them can drive a jackhammer. So you may have to run the horns at a lower pressure but you can blow them all day long.
My ride! Only 120-130 psi available… Suggestions?
That’s perfect pressure man. 200 PSI is overkill and not good on the horn. Trains only run about 130 PSI so you’ll be sounding fine and keeping that good sound.
So I installed these truck stop horns but they sound awfull. Sometimes they don’t sound at all and other times it sounds like only one horn is blowing. Very inconsistent. I don’t know if the diaphrams are foobar or what.
Does anyone have or know someone who has a set of nathan’s for sale? I don’t want to spend a grand on horns and already wasted 200bucks on these!
Or if someone might have some advise on how to make these work properly I would appreciate it.:o
Take em apart and see how the diaphragms look. They may need cleaning or something. How much are you looking to spend for some Nathans?
I did take them apart. I don’t know how the diaphragms should look but they were dry and no rips, cracks or holes. They are stainless and pretty clean.
What should I expect to pay for a used set of Nathans?
u need to get a nathan airchime for that truck bud
You got one you wanna get rid of?
