I got the Bull bar installed that i bought off of a guy on gm-trucks today!! The thing looks awesome… And is absolutely solid! I was surprised at how strong / solid it is… In the past i wasnt sure if i would get one because of mixed reviews on them not being solid, but this thing feels like it could take a hit from wildlife and talk about it after
Heres some pics… As soon as i wash it i will get better ones , right now these are just cell pics…
Best part is… This bar goes for $375-500 depending on where you buy it from… He hooked me up with it for $150 shipped! It is used, has some minor blemishes, but it is stainless / chrome, and solid!!! Now to get lights for it … Any opinions? I’d prob want more of a long range lights since my lows / higs / fogs get what in front lit up good…
Thanx- Wasnt to tough… Prob. the worst part was getting the bolts loose from tow hooks and getting up in there with my ratchet & 3 foot breaker bar … Once i sprayed em all with PB blaster it helped a lot… Then it was just trying to align the bar and make it level… I went out and bought all new locking Stainless nuts for the bolts too… The bolts werent in terrible shape, so i saved some coin there.
Those are nice. A buddy of mine had one installed on his Dodge Ram and hit a deer. The bar done more damage to the front of the truck than the deer would have done. The bar was pushed clear back into the grille. These are basically vanity bars and good for mounting lights, but if you want something solid/functional check these out: http://www.buckstop.biz/#
Well if i got a support going from the top of bar back into crossbar support under hood, It would not be able to move at all… Like you said , if something hits it hardenough on the upper portion, it will bend back… But the way i think of it , either way, you hit a deer head on, its gonna do a lot of damage and with this bar there it will only help.
Damn, those bars are nice on that site… But 2k! only way i’d consider getting one is if my front end did get wrecked from a deer or something , the i would get one of those bumpers instead of oem…
It looks good, but how sturdy is it? I thought about getting one of thse, but can’t justify if it isn’t going to protect my truck like a buckstop bumper would…
It is extremely sturdy… i always heard they werent but that may be an off brand… This thing is 3" stainless tubing / chromed, and has like 1/4" brackets going to frame mount… Sure if something hits it hard enough or more towards the top out it, it will bend it back into grill / bumper… But it something hits it thast hard, then your bumper and grill would be toast anyway…
the tubing is stainless, not sure how thick tho… the brackets are approx 1/4" steel bolted w/ 1/2" bolts right to frame. I will get a vid some day of me pushing on it if ya want (as the whole truck moves)… I’m not saying that this will survive in an accident , but its definitely not “just show”… Its more protection to your front end especially if a deer gets in its way…
I don’t think that is going to stop the damage of a deer… even if it hits the middle of the bumper… especially on a stock truck. I would go with an aftermarket bumper… I hear www.buckstop.biz makes a great aftermarket bumper but their customer service isn’t that great. the bumper is 1/4" steel throughout, and would stop just about anything… you can get the grill guards too…
