buying a new train horn !

Hi guys,

I would like to buy a horn kit for my husband birthday I know he would love to have one in his new truck but to be honest I don’t know nothing about these thing and I don’t want to ask him because its kind of a surprise I a have been doing some recherche but I don’t know what kit to buy for better price and qualities. My price range is about 550$ can I have something good for that price

And we lived in Canada

Thanks

Any comments for the HornBlasters Shocker Classic 228VX

Get the Shocker 240 kit. Same horn but faster air compressor and larger tubing for the horns.
He might want a manual air valve too. The kit comes with an electronic air valve that doesn’t let you vary the sound volume.

I would say if you could squeeze alittle more and get the 540 kit, it was the kit i started with and i loved it. It has a larger air tank to so more blow time.

And sorry for my bad writing I’m French

Kim

Yep they ship to Canada I believe. What kind of truck does he have?

Kim, welcome to the forum.

Don’t feel sorry, your English is a lot better than my French.

he have a 2009 GMC diesel truck

Thanks

He will LOVE The Shockers! They have a nice deep low pitch sound but they are Loud as hell!

that is his truck pretty nice machine but with a slippy horn.
is the size of the tank is making a difference ?

truck

The size of the tank will affect the honking time. More air = more honking time.

Nice looking truck!

5 gallons is good for the Shockers.

I think I will go with this kit. it come with everything he need to make it work Wright ? He won’t need anything els !

That should just about have everything he needs, I only needed a few zip ties and such to clean up the install to make it look good and I needed a different button to honk them. (Push button instead of switch)

Sorry to revive this thread, but this is the first time i ever hear of a fellow Quebecker that has (or will get) train horns. I thought I was the only one.

Hope your husband liked the horns, Kim (if you’re still reading this forum).
If you didn’t buy them yet, my advice is to have them shipped to a US address, it’s SO much cheaper (or even free, depending on the seller). There are places near the border (on the US side) that receive packages for you for a very small fee ($5).
I had my horns delivered to a US address for free (by Amazon). It would have costed $60 to have them shipped to Montreal.
