Seen this for sale in the UK…
Train Horns - Plastic
it says “These are the bad-boys! Loudest of the bunch at 175db”

Personally I dont believe these can give 175db.
So I was looking for questions I can ask the supplier before I buy…
I guess…
1, what PSI do they require
2, at what distance is the db measured ?
New to this so any help much welcomed.

they cant hit 175 dbs. not possible. even an airchime wont do that (the will do 160 something). I would say give them 150psi if you must get them. honestly i would just save for some shockers even though the shipping will kill you. of look around and save even more for a real train horn bc after a while, you will want to get louder, and more authentic sounding

I studdied db in colledge many moons ago…
But not being experienced in air horns… I just thought it was wrong so asked here first. 5bd below a rocket ? Well, I will shoot a e-mail to the Brittish trading standards in a mo about their advert. Only to stop others being roped in by their claims.

By the way, I am not adverse to spending money for the right set of horns.
But I like many other want to get the best value for money… Or should I say the best sound and LOUDEST horns for the money lol !
This is my set up.
I have a 1965 VW Split Screen Camper.
I have a diving bottle to supply air.
Have about £500 (GB pounds) to spend in total… Have seen some on ebay that I have missed…
Any suggestions would be warmly recieved.

Mate! Hi, Start with the shockers!!! seriously…awesome amount of sound for you money!
I had shockers… then bought K3’s… but people complain about them, so I have bought another set of shockers (to be fitted yet)
But shockers are cool!
Word of warning… Importing this stuff works out expensive… my shockers XL kit imported cost me roughly about 500quid, but then got stung another £97 for import duty!
Can I ask a stupid question…

Whats the difference between shockers and K3’s.
From what I have read Shockers are the value for DB’s and K3 are like the Rocky train horns ?

Shockers are manufacured for HB’s, the closest thing to K3’s kinda, but are a much deeper tone! there is a thread on hear somewhere called “triple hornblast” or something? its a vid of my old Siege3’s, which are now on my mates Supra, my old Mr2 fitted with shockers & my K3’s fitted on my pimpmobile… I’ll find the link now…
Shockers are 152dB & K’3’s are 156dB I believe.
