I have done some searches already and have read some great info!
Recently I have been blowing fuses on my onboard air, I have a viair 380c using a viair leader hose w/check valve. everything worked fine for about a year, then I started having issues with the fuse blowing only on start up with air pressure in the system.
I think my check valve has crapped out. I had spare viair used leader hose, i installed it - and same problem. I do have an inline 1/4" npt female X 1/4" npt female w/ an 1/8" unloader port -do you think I should use this, instead of ordering another leader hose?
I would just install the old (bad check valve) leader hose with the new inline check valve - and plug the unloader port? I am using a 165-200 psi pressure switch(Horns)
Sounds odd that a check valve would go bad… what size amp fuses are you using? What is your compressor rated for? I’m having the same issue on occasion. when you have pressure in the tank, the compressor has to work harder to get more air in there. working harder = more amp draw.
You might want to check with Viair, or the distributor where you purchased your compressor, before tampering with it. Unfortunately if you’ve made modifications yourself your warranty may have been voided.
I’d still recommend the factory replacement parts over using alternatives.
Oh and don’t run the compressor with that broken check. You can put a lot of wear and tear on your compressor when it needs maintenance and its not worth it.
