It gave up the ghost last nite after Honking in London Town!!!
It would appear that the compressor wiring was beginning to get a bit warm because the windings on the motor where breaking down, thus in turn causing the insulation to get warm on the wiring from the battery and chaff on the body work as it entered a small hole with no rubber grommets in into the car up to the fuse holder.
The overheated windings.
The Wiring…lesson learnt, always fit fuses as close to battery as posible!
My Fifty GALLON TANK (Hornblaster TX gave me lol)…fitted in the Frunk!
Dont laugh at my tank pleaseeeeeeeeeeee…o:o:o
It only holds a cup ful of air!!!:rolleyes:
Dude the rear trunk is smaller than the front one!!! lol
And in the front, the compressor sits just above the space saver spare wheel. But seriously, I’m considering ditching the spare altogether for a bigger tank.
Jesus man, tell me about it; I already posted it once but I’ll say it again. One week after I installed my horn in my spare tire compartment, I slid into a curb during a wicked thunderstorm and bent/cracked my rim. Where was the spare tire? In my garage. Before I installed it I had it in my trunk for about two years…never needing it…
Yeah i’ll post them up later when i get home. I’m at work at moment, on my fone on internet. But i woz surprised at the condition of the piston. There is some play in the little crankshaft bearing and the piston ring/seal woz as you would expect, worn. I’ll get the pics up laters.
Damn, what gauge wire were you running?
Even though the compressor/tank combo isn’t the best for any larger or decent horn configs, that shouldn’t have happened if you had installed the system properly.
Always run a larger gauge wire to the battery as well as install a fuse as close to the battery as possible. (The last part, you know of course).
I think it was 8 gauge??? The main problem was the fact that I had the fuse inside the car and not right next to the battery and the small hole the cables passed through must have chaffed the insulation, it then shorted and melted the feed to the horns. The compressor windings must have been breaking down before hand and starting to cause the wiring to overload. Why the fuse did not go is beyond me… its all melted together so I cant check what size it is.
Anyway…the long and short of it is…I’m about to order a Shocker system any minute now! HAPPY DAYZ!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Hahahahahaha…I wish…I’m still waiting for them… I checked my tracking number and they are still in Customs being cleared… knowing my luck they will get bloody blown up buy our trigger happy bomb squad!!!:(
