Compressor Freeze up?

Howdy! Im a LONG time reader but first time poster. I bought the Reconditioned Viair 450C Air Comrpessor (450) and im having a problem with the compressor freezing up in this cold wisconsin winter. The compressor runs but no air gets to the tank Any suggestions? I figured if anybody could help me it would be you guys! Thanks in advance

how cold is it? the compressors are rated very good for cold and hot weather…

An Oasis compressor is rated for -20F and I think Viair is the same. Your problem may not be with the compressor if it runs. It’s probably moisture freezing in your air line.

I concur.
Warm the line up, or run the unit until your chunk o’ ice dislodges. Remember to mount the compressor higher than your air tank inlet to avoid collecting moisture that can freeze.

I think what happens actually is the checkvalve freezes shut… I go thru this every winter…
