Compressor noise and isolation...

Being completely new to this scene, Ive never heard a 12v compressor like a Viair 400C in person. Noise is something I dont want to be hearing over my other hobby, car audio. So if the compressor is all the way in the trunk (I always leave my seats folded down) how loud would it be? Like I said, I never heard one before…

Also, Im willing to build a sound deadened box to house the compressor if need be, but I imagine it would need some sort of ventilation correct?

same here. car audio and horns. my comp is a little loud like normal in-car conversation. vibration isolation is important or it couples to my amprack and makes a loud humming sound. mounted the comp on a metal plate and put that on foam.

building a box and putting it in there could help with the higher freq noise but not sure about the lower humming notes. ventilation is definitely necessary.

I simply learned to live with the noise (same with the GF) and left it as is, I just don’t honk as much if I have a passenger.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to reduce the noise of my OB2 since it’s mounted to the frame of my truck under the rear right passenger’s seat.

We’ll see what I can find and/or design …

Mount the filter outside, and run isolators for mounts. 1/2 by 3/4 works great. Not sure why I stopped selling them.

For people with toolboxes…I dynamatted the area around my compressor…works great :] As for your question, they make a good bit of noise. Not LOUD just noise…
