Conductors Special on an F250

So, I’ve been lurking for quite some time. I purchased a Model 240 a while back and have been planning the install. I began last night. I figured out the placement of the components and went to work. I mounted the horns onto a piece of sheet metal. Then mounted the sheet metal/horns to the underside of the bed. There is plenty of room for suspension travel with no “differential/horn interface”. I mounted the valve onto a crossmember and then routed the airlines. I will need a longer hose from the compressor to the tank, I will get that today. The compressor will be mounted on the inside of the frame and the tank will be on the outside. It should be operational tonight or this weekend.

Welcome to the forum. Pics are always appreciated so thanks. You setup is looking and sounding pretty good so far.

Thanks. I apologize for the size of the pics. Tonight I got the compressor and tank mounted. I plumbed an extra QD to use for tire inflation. I didn’t have my camera with me, so no pics. I’ll finish up tomorrow with the wiring and pics. Thanks again.

Dont apologize for the size of the pics - the bigger the better in the detail:D

I like it when installs are given thought and are neat.

Welcome to the forum:D

Can you give more info on how you mounted the horns to the sheet metal…?!! I like this idea because I was wondering where I was gonna post 4 separate horns… I took off my spare tire under my truck bed and I plan on putting the entire system there… I upgraded to the conductors special 232 xl… with this system, I can mount the insulated tank outside… Thanks for the idea! I look forward to starting installation tomorrow or Tuesday…

Sure, i mounted the diaphragm end of the horn with the air inlet lock nut. The bell end of the horn has little mounting fasteners on the end of the bell, so it is pretty easy. I was able to mount mine without loosing the spare tire, but it is a 3/4 ton 4x4 with lots of clearance between the rear differential and the bed. I had planned on taking more pics, but my Dad borrowed it to pull an enclosed car trailer on a trip over the weekend.

Where did ya get the sheet metal?

I just picked it up at a local steel supply yard. Some Home Depot’s and Lowes also sell sheet metal, but the ones I looked at were too small of a piece. I had to buy a bigger piece than I needed, but I’l always needing some sheet metal in my shop. You might go to you local steel supply and see what they have in the scrap pile.
