Here’s my response from the other thread. Whether you care about honk time depends on what/how you intend to use the horns. Most people want more honk time.
I think some recent testing showed that the Shockers are not much (if any) louder at 200 psi. If you wanted the most honk time with any size tank, run 200 in the tank & regulate down to 150.
Oh yeah… I should’ve added that:o. If you go 200psi then you really need to add a regulator. I don’t think HB warrants the Shockers for 200psi use anyway.
Get the 540, run the tank to 175psi with the 175psi pressure switch (call HB when you do your order, they’ll let you swap items out and make sure to get your forum discount) then regulate it down to 120 to 150psi.
You’ll get well into 15 to 25 seconds of straight honk time. You might think, “Well damn, that’s not much.”, but once you hit than button to sound them off you’ll think different.
Thanks guys, just wondering. I have the Puma air compressor which won’t go above 135 PSI anyways, but maybe I could use it to fast fill the tank and then top off with an AZ or something.
