Deals Gap aka the Dragon

Deals Gap Is litterally the greatist road ever invented. No lie.
Has anyone ever been? Its an amazing road. My friends decided to go down with the S2ki forum and it was a blast. Its Crosses at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line, the Dragon or Deals Gap is considered by most as one of the world’s best motorcycling and sports car roads and I have to agree. Anyone looking for an exciting highway will enjoy this stretch of US129. Seriously, If you enjoy driving the twisties. You must go to this stretch of Highway… lol some pics of an epic weekend.

I Have more photos, just check out the photobucket account. haha like 200 something from the weekend.

We have all kinds of twisting mountain roads here including one of the “Dead Man’s Curve” which I think is on Mulhuland Dr. in the Angeles mountains but not sure. It’s not the famous one but is called that.

Whoa… nice little collection of jap cars there mate… nice S2000…

I bet California has marvelous roads to drive on haha. Colorado had some nice ones as well, but it seemed theirs just were cutbacks to travel up the mountain. With this road, you go slightly downhill and literally run through the mountains. some turns are super tight and the most you can take them at are 20ish and others are more high speed that I probably should not repeat lol. it has extremely banked turns as well as turns that cut back to back to back, It really was a great experience just for the scenery as well.
Here are some more photos. Again, I was just trying to home in to my photography skills, I was hanging out the window taking pictures on the highway lol.

Awesome!!! at our foto shoot the other day we had some drive by shots on the motorway!!!

Dude? which car was you in?

Theres a mountain pass over here called Cheddar Gorge with similar kinda roads, but the best thing is the caverns the road passes through, superb for a bit of Hornblasting.

haha, I road in all of them. I took most of the photos in the yellow S, and the rx8. This has like 318 curves in 11 miles of roadway. its simply amazing.

Well I was procrasternating today, and decided to try to learn some photoshop. The pics got clearer and I put a boarder around them. Maybe for my birthday I can get a better camera lol. A D40 or something along those lines. I know this is a small forum, but does anyone have the photo skills haha, I would like some tips for my next set of shots.

Take a semester or a short course on photography at your local college. It shouldn’t cost that much. They’ll teach about lighting, contrast, composition, and even developing film unless it’s all digital now. I did it quite a few years ago.

That is a great idea I too wish i would have had the time to do something like that back when i was in school. I just picked up books and learned mostly from books.

The best i can recommend is Understanding Exposure - Bryan Peterson.

Thanks, That is a good idea. I’ll try to pick up that book. What camera would you recommend for a beginner looking to get into photography. Ive started looking around and trying to figure out what I would want/need to get into the game. Something not too expensive but not really the cheapest one either lol. From what ive seen, it seems as though I can get a decent Kit for around the 500 or 600 dollar range.

I’m a nikkon fan so any of the DSLR’s would be great!

I’m a Nikon fan too. Is anyone interested in an F2 with manual everything? Only the aperture of the lens closes automatically during the shot. It was their top of line model in its day.

Thanks for the info Rigo and Dan, I appreciate it
