Im at that point in my horn blowing lifetime where i need a high performance compressor to match the amount of time i honk. Im stuck between two choices, an Oasis XD3000 or a Kilby EDC. Ive been doing a ton of research and making alot of phone calls lol. Im just looking for some input on what you guys like and what are some advantages and disadvantages to either of these systems. I have 20 gallons to fill now and possibly in the future it could be 30 to 40 gallons…
The XD3000 has oil control and an oil level sight glass which eliminated the need for a dip stick and the hassle of checking the oil level. The oil discharge rate should be better than Kilbys. The XD3000 discharges 1 ounce for every 50 hours of run time. At one time Kilby considered using the same pump as ours but I think he went back to the regular york.
The XD3000 fills 10 gallons from 0 to 150 PSI in 1:45 so just multiply 1:45 for every 10 gallons. 30 gallons takes about 5 1/2 minutes and 40 gallons about 7 minutes
yea very cool thanks Dan will it be able to run for all 7 mins no problem or would that be to hard on it?
Dang. Thats a heck of a machine right there. OMG. One day I say. One Day.
convert your A/C compressor. sounds pretty free to me
No way man, its a new truck and i would never give up my AC lol
Hey Dan, I seen on another thread also that you wrote the modified edc you guys sell from Oasis has the finned heads, the oil control rings, and the 3/8 female conections. Does that also come with a air filter for the edc and a matching electric clutch? I may be intrested in something like that because if i can eliminate the amount of amps being strapped on my electrical system i would rather do that. I know i would have to run a second battery if i get an XD3000 and prob a battery isolater, but i really dont want to do that, im just to stinkin picky i guess haha thanks man
We don’t carry clutches and the air intake filter is a separate item (P/N PAF = $29.95)
Ok thanks dan how long could the xd3000 run before i would have to let it rest?
The XD3000 can run 30 to 40 minutes out of every hour as long as it gets 15 to 20 minutes to cool down.
I’m not sure how long it can run as an EDC that’s being preheated by the engine but it only needs to run long enough to fill a tank which isn’t long at all. When the pump is turning at 1500 RPM, it will fill 5 gallons from 0 to 150 PSI in 55 seconds.
Just from what i’ve heard about these compressors, they have to be mounted right side up, is that correct?
Yes, the XD3000 is oil lubricated. Mount it any other way and the crankshaft would seize. We have mounting brackets for that. Mounting one under a vehicle is not recommended in areas where they de-ice the roads in winter unless you provide additional protection. De-icing agents accelerate aging.
I see.
I’ve had my XD3000 for 3 months now and I am extremely satisfied with it’s performance. I certainly don’t miss the problems with the relays burning up when I had my other compressors, the XD3000 has a built in solenoid. The reason I got this compressor is that it takes 5 hours to get to Manila from my Town and so my Horn gets used a lot… I mean LOTS… with this compressor I never ran out of air. It fills up my 2x 5gal tanks very quick. I even used it for spray painting around the house and it worked perfectly. Just like the XD4000 I installed a 150cfm fan to keep the compressor cool. I am sure you will like it if you decide to get one.
lol…spray painting…that’s awesome
I have one customer who sets up XD4000s and 6 gallon tanks for their construction customer who runs 3 nail guns at the same time off of 1 setup.
x2…to funny
