Hey Guys, I am a newb to train horns and to this forum, I have been reading through lots of the threads the past day, and have seen that no one has mentioned the Shocker 232 ( or at least I did not see it) Most everyone is talkin about K5 and K3 type of horns.
I just purchased the Shocker 232 kit Tuesday, and they are being installed by a shop on my 2011 F250 Tomorrow. I had assumed these are the horns on the demo video that are being compared to the “ebay” brand of horns (demonstrated by djd labs). i am hoping they sound as good as the video, but again doubt is creepin in after reading all of these threads.
Anyone got know if its okay to tell the installer to put the compressor and tank in the engine bay, and the horns along the frame rail facing down and slightly to the rear of the truck? Also can someone confirm for me that he can install a simple toggle switch or perhaps use one of my upfitter switches to toggle between the regular horn and the train horns using my horn button on the steering wheel? Thanks for any and all info!
its has to have 3 prongs in order to flip between train horn and stock horn. top leg goes to horn + middle to sterring wheel and bottom to horn + 
Welcome. Nothing wrong with any of that. If there’s room under the hood go for it - just keep away from the exhaust manifolds. Horns are good wherever. lol
Haha I didn’t even know what upfitter switches were before I came to the trainhornforums. Like trey said the switch needs to be double throw (3 prongs). If it isn’t, you could use it to switch a double throw relay (5 pin).
You could also use an upfitter switch for your master cutoff.
If you are paying somebody to install it then you can tell him exactly how you want the install and what switches to include
Welcome. The difference between shocker kits is the compressor. According to these threads, the shockers are nice and about as close as you can get to real train horns. Be prepared to upgrade to Airchimes…hahaha…most people do.
