Does my car need train horns?

Please excuse my amateur photograph. I just got my first dslr and snapped a quick photo.

It’s a 2011 SHO. It has been tuned, new grill, air filter, weathertech floor mats, and a valentine 1 radar detector. I have been wanting a set of train horns for a few years now after watching the terror on the street videos. I picked up a set of unused shocker horns and thinking of going with the 2 gallon viair kit. There is room behind the front bumper for the horns, but it seems like it’s going to muffle them too much. There is some room underneath the rear bumper, just not sure if I can make all four fit under there. I am hesitant with a few things like having a compressor and tank in my trunk. I learned you have to drain it occasionally as well. Trying to decide if I should go with it on this car, or put it on something else down the road.

welcome to the forums and nice car! of course you need a set of train horns, who doesn’t! your car is already a performance sleeper, now make it a horn blasting sleeper too!

That’s a nice car right there. BADLUK has a good point. sleeper + sleeper = win

If you can fit them up front that would be great. They will be loud regardless of which direction they’re pointed.

Nice ride. And as E2E said they will be loud no matter where they are or which direction they are pointed. And yes you do need train horns on your car.

As for the tank go with either PTC fittings or quick connect the leads on the tank for removal when draining or a seperate solenoid out the bottom port located externally outside of the vehicle for even easier drainingz

See if there is room in front of the radiator for the 4 shocker trumpets

the beast has a really good idea for a drain port. thats smart!

Thanks for the compliments.

Will they be loud even if they’re stuffed inside the front bumper? There is actually quite a bit of room in there, it just seems like it’s going to muffle the noise because the bumper is completely sealed besides the grills. I would probably need to mount them where led drl’s are. I dont think there is enough room to mount them near the grills, but I would have to pull the bumper again to verify.

Are there any wiring diagrams to show how to hook them up to a stock horn but on a switch to revert back to the oem horn?

Also thinking about doing a Viair 275c compressor and a 2 gallon tank, and trying to find a spot under the vehicle to install it. Compressor should be easy, but the tank is probably another story. I haven’t seen a 2 gallon tank in person so i’m not exactly sure how big it is.

Welcome to the forum. If the horns aren’t enclosed inside the bumper they’ll be loud enough.

The answer is OF COURSE!!! lol

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Does your car need Train horns… OF COURSE!!! Why the hell not?! ha ha!!
