Dual 400c Max Amperage?

So I just received my dual pack of 400c’s expecting the max amps. to be 51 like it says on viaircorp.com. It says on the box, however, that the max amp draw is 60. Which is the correct number?

I’m worried about my car being able to run both compressors without upgrading the alternator or adding another battery. Do customers that get the 400c dual pack ever do this? The stock alternator on my p71 crown vic is a 130 amp and I believe a 50 amp draw is around the max i’d be able to pull aside from all the other amp. functions of the car

what kind of car or do you know how many amps your car puts out?

did you read my post?

The max amp draw is 60 amps rating for both. -This is what I tell people all the time, since its better to err on the side of caution when installing compressors.

To be honest, if you have a limitation of 50 amps - then 51 amps isn’t going to help you at all, much less 60 amps of peak draw.

  • Use an 80-amp relay if you run common power.
  • Use a 4 gauge power wire for your installation, to keep voltage from dropping and amperage from rising.

Sorry I must have read over it lol.

haha

Your battery should be able to handle the power draw for the short time it is on… and then your alternator will recharge your battery. Just make sure you have a good battery.

where can I get 4 gauge power wire? I looked at an auto parts store and the lowest they had was 10 gauge… I don’t want to have to buy a whole huge roll

and wouldn’t I have to have a 4 gauge wired inline fuse holder as well? I’ve never seen them that low

look in shops that install car stereos. they usually have wires right down to 1/0ga.

will do thanks

Or any Marine/Boating store do. Should be able to go right in and get of a spool.

Good advice right there…
Would have answered myself if I had not been @ SEMA.
