Dumb compressor question..

Once again, noob to this scene…

Say I mount my compressor under the trunk…where is the best place to put the air intake?

To me, it would make sense to put the remote intake inside the trunk, since cabin air is already filtered. I read one post on here saying to mount the filter outside…and Im confused as to why, since it can suck in all the road dirt, water etc…

Sounds like the best way to me - remote mount into the trunk.
The air might be hotter in there, but it’s no different than mounting the whole compressor in there.
