Finally Got Videos

I know its been a long time between posting the photos and getting actual video. Here it is. And there will be more to come, once I find a place to blow these things.

A little about the videos, the first one I shot sunday night, and the camera was about 100ft away. I sounded the stock horn and then the K3. The camera I used is really designed to take still pictures. The only justice I get is the BIG echo at the end so turn your speakers up. I was surprised to get the echo because there was NOTHING around.

The second video I spiced up with notes and transitions because I shot it at night, but this was more for a distance and angle comparison. Read the text in the video. I also included a map of the route I took as well as “As the crow flies” distances from blast sites. lol

Enjoy, PLEASE. Tell me what you think. Ive already apologized for the crappy video. lol

It may be your camera but something doesn’t sound right…

i agree… something sounds sick. i’ve never heard a k3 sound like that on camera…

on a side note you know it’s a bad idea to install the compressor upside down right?

edit: nvm about the compressor… just saw a discussion on it in your old thread

Sounds like you have a fouled bell. Should sound like this.

Hey man,
I can argue with them. Sounds good to me, but I’m deaf in one ear. Love the editing you did though. Vid looks great. Truck sounds awsome and horn is loud as hell, out of tune or not.
What song did you use for the intro?

NO. it SHOULDN’T sound like that. That guy had his horns on TOP OF THE TRUCK. C’mon. My horns are in the front grille. Under the radiator.

lol. Well then tell me what sounds wrong.

I didnt take it with a VIDEO camera. lol it was a point and shooter. Best i got for now.

I’ve had no problems. with my compressors the way they are.

I’m not knocking your set up. Or others either. I wanted to post what the horn should voice. Please don’t take it to heart. Something didn’t sound right to me or a few others. There is a lot of variables that take place. Also yes. A horn on top of a truck sounds different. And mounted underneath does or firing down. Or the recording plays a big part too. We are not here to bash people and their set ups. But quite a few of us have quite a bit of experience with collecting and restoring horns. And want help others.

Good Luck and Enjoy your horns,

John

I wasn’t making fun of you man or knocking your setup either… it just sounds like you have something wrong with one of the bells. Maybe out of tune or a bent diaphragm or something. I just know that’s not what a K3 is supposed to sound like.

lol. Nah I didnt say that. lol. Sorry if it came out wrong. Im thinkin what my problem is, is the horn is TOO close to the bumper. I mean, the 1 bell is right up against the bumper. It wouldnt even sound before I replaced that plastic insert in the lower grille with a billet. I think thats part or most of my problem. I havent figured out a way to fabricate another bracket to get them back further.

Also too, it sounds so different depending on the angle. Think I need new diaphrams?

I know yall werent. lol I feel the same way. I think im getting close to a resolution with yall help. for real.

I’ve seen a K3 sound a little different with one of the diaphragms even being a tiny bit bent. Did you take it all apart when you got it and check them? Sounds like something simple to troubleshoot. It’s not an “out of tune” type sound thankfully lol

Hmmm, I did take the 1 bell and the “one next size down” (4 bell?) apart. They had bad o-rings and I replaced those. I looked at the diaphrams, I would imagine if you put them together and just one part was raised then that would mean they’re warped? They were’nt PERFECTLY flat but they seemed to have normal wear and tear.

Which video sounds bad? The first or the second? The first one sounded a little off (in that parking lot) On the second video, the last blow on there is what it sounds like in person.
