Finally Registered...

Well, I was sitting in a restaurant over the summer and heard a trainhorn on a limo. Immediately hooked! I went home & started searching Youtube which obviously led to hornblasters and these forums. You guys/gals have some impressive setups for sure.

At that moment, in that restaurant, I knew I would own a trainhorn…lol

So the plan is a K5LA with an 8.5 gallon tank and dual AZ OB2 compressors.
I’ll run the tank at 200psi and regulate it down to 150 for a little longer blast.
(still looking for a 1/2" regulator)

Vehicle is an 09 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 4x4.

I plan on mounting the bells separately behind the front bumber / grill / whatever it takes.

I’m just glad this forum exists for some great installs, stories, friends, etc…

welcome to the boards! we’ll definitely get ya honkin around here

Welcome man. Its a pricey game to play, but worth every penny.

Thanks guys.

Expensive is right! And the longer I wait - the bigger the plan gets.

I need to just buy everything already…lol

I would think you’d have plenty of room to mount it without having to break it apart. Or do you just want it in the front?

Welcome to the forums! The smile when you honk* is worth every penny you paid for the horns.

  • Actually it’s more of a blast than honk :D:D:D:eek:

Well a couple reasons for mounting up front. I want to leave the spare tire alone & also everything hidden as much as possible.

I’m looking into a hard cover for the bed to hide the tank & compressors.

When I get the horns, I’ll crawl under there and see how it looks.
Definitely open to suggestions. Under the bed would be easier.

check out my install, i would recommend something like this…

Your K3 is an awesome color. Nice install too.
So it’s mounted in the spare tire location?
I really don’t want to put it there.

I’m wondering if there’s room on the passenger side in front of the rear axle.
Our high temp tomorrow is 14 degrees - I’m not crawling under there for a while…lol

I just don’t want to see 'em hanging down.

Here is my truck.
It is now debadged and windows tinted.

I have upper and lower grilles on order too.

That is exactly right! Except mine is more of a smile and a laugh…

I can’t wait to blast, smile, AND laugh at those poor unsuspecting souls next spring/summer.

I’m in Nebraska, so it’ll take a little thawing out first.

avfrog - you’re fairly close to me… a lot closer than the east coast / west coast / international folks.

^ very true! I think there are couple of people from around central us. The whole train horn thing, ya, worth every penny.

Welcome, let me know when you want a real compressor.

Thanks - and yeah an XD3000 would be the ultimate.

So we’re talking around 160 amps aren’t we?
I have dual alternators and 2 extra batteries, but to tell you the truth I’m tired of running 1/0 cable. (big stereo)

At some point I have to say enough is enough with this truck…lol

Always want more though!

Welcome aboard ear2ear

Thanks - glad to be here!

Hey - I placed my order from HB today! Thanks Garrett!

8.5 gallon tank
(2) AZ OB2 compressors
