Fittings

Does anyone use teflon tape in thier setup? like in all the fittings? or just tighting them really tight?

I used teflon on all my fittings

teflon tape and tighten very tight but make sure to wrap the teflon tape the way you are tightening the fitting…or use loctite(expensive alternative.)

Teflon’s good but I’ve had the best luck with Loc-Tite

Loc-tite 545 to be exact

Some sort a a sealer is always required. ive never seen a standard NPT fitting that you can just stop the leak by keep tightening…

i use Teflon’s on all my fitting and i don’t have a single leak

During the day , when my truck is in the sun i dont have a leak either… Now over night when it drops to 50 degrees i will loose half tank… its weird

mmm thats really weird have you put water and soap on all the fittings?

lol ^ your in Florida. Air condenses when its cold out. and expands when its hot. Its always hot in Miami and therefore it wont show leaks.

duhh!!! lol

Thats why you gotts no leaks lol and everyone else does! haha

yeah I used the Teflon that the shocker kit had. Worked fine for me.

found a great way to seal it 100% airtight. wrap teflon tape then dab a bit of contact cement around the threads before screwing it in. (loctite isn’t readily available and is expensive for me :P) my fittings are 100% airtight.

but still, mine looses 30psi over the night but slows down after that.

the leak I couldn’t get rid of is from the hose barbs from the tank to the horns. damn hose loosens after a while, then I tighten the hose clamps… leak stops…then in a week or so, it leaks again…tighten it then it stops…then leaks again…

I finally got my system airtight.

Had a leak for a couple of years @ input to solenoid. Forgot where leak was, sprayed system yesterday w/soapy H2o

Saw that i already tried covering in 2 part steel putty to stop leak (stupid) and re-epoxyed yesterday for a quick fix (ddnt work)

Cut all epoxy off w/ dremmel last night (surprisingly easy) To discover
that i had applied Indian Head Permatex at the juncture.
(bad memories )
Had to get 2 Big wrenches and my mini butaine torch to loosten it up.

Got it - went to Home dEPOT, got a new 1/2-3/8th fitting.
Wrapped in a few layers of teflon tape and cranked it down hard.

I used the dremmel sanding wheel and took the threads off the 3/8 nipple and my hose went on perfectly…

i use transmission hose w/clamps.

all joints ate wrapped in teflon…
100% airtight…YEAH

I never have , but why not ? oxidation ???

The world will explode!!!

that wud suck

not true. I did that before and the world did not explode.

well crap i guess we can’t hook our horns to our steel tanks…
