Greetings from NYC

actually its Long Island. The name is Chris, and i felt compelled to let others know about the service i have recieved from the guys here at H.B. I purchases the Shocker 240XL a couple weeks ago. The install was pretty straight forward minus one little detail. The seloniod for the trigger valve was not prewired! No problem, i called and left a message over the weekend, and had a return call Monday morning. Turns out that you need to install your own wires, no big deal.

So i thought i could install the tank and compressor in the rear, and my horns up front where my old setup used to be. WRONG. There wasnt even room for the shortest trumpet up front. My old horn kit ( no name brand ) all fit nicely, but not the Shocker. No biggy, i made everything fit in the rear. Everything is tucked away for that nice clean stealth look i like.

Upon installing, i had a slow leak. My 1/2 air line from the tank to the valve was leaking at the tank. I tried pushing, pulling, tightening and nothting worked. So i called H.B. and was expecting either a smart @ss answer or no help at all. I couldnt have been further from wrong if i tried. Garret ( i assume is the owner ) informed me that although no system is ever air tight, he would send me the connector at no charge to me. Sure enough, a couple days later a package arrives on my door. This turns out to be the wrong connector! H.B. mistakenly sent me the connector for the valve end and not the one for the tank end of the air line! So now i was sure that i would be told over the phone that i was just making trouble, and dont call back. AGAIN, i was wrong. This other gentleman ( Derrick i think ) said he knew which connector i needed, and that the other was sent by mistake. When asked if he wanted me to send the first one back, the reply was " dont bother, it will cost more to ship it back then the part is acutally worth."

So i get up this morning ( Sunday 5/24 holiday weekend ) and there is a message in my Email that the other connector is on its way! How cool is that? You guys and gals at H.B. are the best. Keep up the good work.

BTW … i would love to show pics of my set up, but my box is in for paint, and should be out in a week. Pics and possible vid to follow shortly.

To those who are on the fence about buying … do it. You wont regret it. The kits are top notch and everything is above grade. I only wish i would have listened a long time ago and not spent more on a cheaper kit trying to get it to work with the end result that Horn Blasters gives right out of the box.

Welcome!! Hornblasters rocks! The have one of the best customer service i have ever seen!!! Btw, do you like how the shockers sound ahh??

no, i dont like the way the Shocker sounds … i LOVE the way they sound! My first set up was loud ( i still have the horns ) but this is truely a bottom of your gut rumble that makes one think they are near a train.

i think they are hand tunned to sound like a p3… correct me if i am wrong guys!

p3? Some kind of train im guessing. Im not into trains, more like trucks ( large cars not 4X4s ).

On a daily basis i cant wait to get my car back so i can let loose on some of these knuckleheads here on LI. Its almost on a hourly basis i have someone just pull out and into my lane, as if im not there. I drive a bright orange box, how the hell can you miss me!? I had my Shocker installed for only a day or 2 before it went in for paint, so i really didnt get to play with the horns much.

But they ( NJers ) are going to love me at the shore this summer.

The p3 is a locomotive horn like this one take some pic’s of ur ride after paint and before paint!

I just realized something, i cant post pics of my ride with this set up … im gonna be the only car on the Island that looks like mine. So if i go pissing someone off, then all they have to do is spot my car in a parking lot and beat the poop out of it.

I can say though, im not going to use mine to scare the daylights out of peds who are minding thier own business. Unless they are crossing the street in front of me when they arent suppoed to be doing, which happens a lot here in NYC.

we’ll see how long this lasts

welcome to the forum

OK, so i promised pics … and here they are. I also installed the new connector this afternoon. We shall see if that cures my leaking problem. Thanks again Garret and all the crew here at Horn Blasters.

yes, it sits that low … and yes, all the goodies are mounted outside in the rear of the box.

Firstly!!! Welcome to the forum fella.

Loving ya ride!!! HB guys rock!!! Watch out for Garrett tho,he kills Goats!!!..Its Matty boy that owns HornBlasters.

Welcome to the forum. Nice setup & nice ride. Cant wait for my shockers to arrive so I can wreak havoc on this little island of mine.

nice. zip ties ftw

sweet ride there bro and very clean too!!! awesome!

and no the shocker and p3 dont sound the same i have both and the p3 has a loud mellow sound with a high pitched screach when it comes on and the shockers has an abrupt and really low tone. But the shocker is very close to an authentic train horn sound.

btw. nyc has to be the most amazing place to horn blast!

I believe it. The sound should travel for miles with all of those tall buildings around unless it’s drowned out by all of the other noise.

Nice Ride!! Welcome!!

I had to use zip ties. There was no sheet metal to mount them to. Intially i was going to mount them up front where i had an old smaller ( much smaller ) set mounted. I couldnt mount the smallest of the horn in that spot.

I will say that with the horns mounted in the rear pointed in every direction i dont get the full force of the blast in the front. This makes it difficult to get the slow pokes out of my way. God forbid if your sitting along side of me though, your gonna get the wrath of 151 Db. LOL

This would all depend on where you are. In a tunnel … it will travle almost the entire length. I would love to give a blast in the Lincoln, but i know i would get busted.

In the city, if you have a block where the buildings are tight, yeah you can get it to travel the block. But, you have other noise to deal with, and if you go down a street where the buildings arent so tight or different heights that would effect the sound.

The best place to hear it surprisingly, here on LI. We have trains everywhere … and just like the real thing you can hear my horns from blocks away. It blends in nicely, cause no one can tell if it is me or a train a block over.
