Hey, I’m moving my RS-3-L from where the spare was to in front of my fuel tank. I need the spare out of the bed for my fifth wheel hitch so it’s got to move. The only spot it will fit is in front of the tank behind the transfer case. I have a 1/4" clearance on everything but one bell. It is going to touch the driveshaft. I plan to grind a nice round bevel there to give me some clearance. Will that change the sound of the horn? I’m only going to take around a 1/2" x 3" spot. Any thoughts? Oh, My truck is an 06 Dodge 4x4 Megacab. Thanks Mark
I’ve heard of A few guys doing this and they said it didn’t change the note.If it makes any difference, the guy did it with Nathans. Can’t you put A spacer under the mounting pad to get the required clearance ? as to move the horns Down away from the driveshaft.
Rex.....
Hey, Took me all day by myself with my can’t lift over 10# doc’s orders, but I got them on. Had to grind almost 2" off of the bell but it didn’t make any differance in sound. I wanted the horns as high as I could get them. They are up even with everything else under there so I should be good. Might try to get some pics if it doesn’t rain tommorow. Thanks for the response Jetmann. Mark
Your welcome Mark ! Happy Honking
Here’s a couple of pics of the new install. It was a tight fit to get this thing up in there the way I wanted but it’s there now! I was going to trim the piece that hangs down on my bracket but I got carried away and had it welded to the truck before I remembered it. Oh well! That will give me something to do some other day! Mark
Looks good. How many gallons do you have between the 3 tanks?
Thanks! Figure I have around 8 gals. give or take. I am going to get another 480c when I get back to work. I have everything except the 2 gal. tank the pump is mounted to, regulated to 130 psi. Mark
I see. Your regulator is between the 1st & 2nd tank.
Maybe when you add the compressor you could move the regulator after the last tank.
Got my other 480c mounted.Seems alot faster but I haven’t timed it yet. I used another pressure switch so each compressor has its own. Seems to work fine though one kicks off about 15 seconds before the other. Mark
Cool. One will probably kick on before the other also.
That just means you have to honk long enough to drop below both…lol
Or are they pretty close?
