Grover.

I plan on doing an air horn setup with a single Grover 1680 air horn. I have very little space for the tank and compressor, and was wondering if a 1 gallon tank and a 130 PSI system would be sufficient.

For a very short honk…

to me thats not even worth it… what ru driving? im pretty sure u can fit a hornblaster kit on whatever it is ur driving

I do not have exact measurements of the space I will be installing the tank into yet, but it will be under a Smart fortwo. Others have managed to fit 2.5lb NOS tanks in the undercarriage, but I’m not sure what I can fit under there yet.

So, I just measured the space, and it’s about 6.25"x6"x16". A: Is it possible to order the 1.5 gallon viair without the compressor? or B: Are there any comparable tanks designed for co2 or something that I could use for air storage which would fit in this space?

When I get it done, I’ll be posting pictures of what I will have installed in my smart. I will actually be using a 7-gallon aluminum tank (200-psi rated from Harbor Freight) that will sit in the back behind the passenger’s seat, and the compressor will be sitting up under the dash behind the glove compartment.

The big thing that makes it workable for me is that about 95% of the time I don’t use the rear space for anything more than carrying my backpack and lunch cooler to work. For the days I NEED the space (a Costco grocery run is a prime reason to need the space) I have built the plumbing to include a half-inch quick coupler, plus a half-inch (both of these are 1/2 inch INSIDE diameter, btw) ball valve that allows me to pop the tank out of the car in less than 30 seconds without losing more than just a quick “pffffft” of air as the coupler nipple pops out of the coupler body. Tank re-installation can be done in just a few seconds as well. For those occasions when the Shockers and Hadleys are without air, I still have my Wolo to keep me legal, and with the ability to give at least a little bit of a warning to the clueless and rude.

If you were interested in putting in any of the Hornblasters Shockers, I can save you a lot of heartache with some recommendations of ways to make things fit. I’m not sorry for what I have, but my experience with locating spots to mount the horns gives me some much better ideas about exactly what to order if I had it to do over again.
