Hello everyone newbie here w/question

Main Train Horns

I am considering buying a train horn to install on my 03’ F-150. Problem is I get a lot of mixed reviews on whether or not this is allowed in my area. I live in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I went so far as to call the police department and ask their view. The guy I spoke with said that they don’t have a machine to actually record the decimal tones. Then my wife calls them back a few days later, (because her an I are in a argument on whether I should invest in the horn or not, lol) anyways the officer she spoke to says he tickets all the time for unauthorized equipment on a vehicle. So basically I don’t know what to do. If anyone knows about the Baton Rouge or Louisiana area, please give me your thoughts.

You can get into trouble no matter where you live. Most of it depends on you and how you use them.

Welcome. Using trains horns in most metropolitan or suburban areas can be trouble so be very careful.

Trains horns can be a problem with law enforcement any where. And has alot to do with which cop hears them.

But for the most part just try doing a quick check before every blast. Or drive a vehicle that dont stand out as much. Because sometimes depending on location its hard to tell where exactly the sound came from.

And goodluck with the boss!! Even though its well worth the cost of buying train horns. Kinda like an addiction once you get started!!!

Thanks guys for the replies. Let me ask where would be a good place to use the train horn, obviously not in front of a policeman lol. Here in Baton Rouge they have some crazy drivers crossing through on I-10 and 12 that have no clue what the passing lane means. I would love to slide up on ones back bumper, and blow the paint off down to the metal on some of these yoyo’s. Like I said I am trying to get into this but currently weighing the pros and cons.

Be aware of your surroundings in town, especially police, because most can’t stop themselves from honking at an idiot that cuts them off in traffic or makes a turn right in front of them.
