Hello from Marylad

Hello. I just bought a set of Leslie RS30 Supertyfon horns from Ebay. They are not here yet but cant wait. I going to (hopefully mount them under my truck 06 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel). I need to still buy tank-comp-valves- wires …ETC. So I will be here looking for advice. Thanks Bill

RS-3-L? Youre going to need a big tank lol… and I don’t recommend going over 140 and neither does Leslie although I’m sure you’ve already heard that. And welcome to the forum!

Hello and welcome aboard!

Thanks everyone. New to this so I think the tag on horn say rs30. Not sure should have them by the weekend.

Welcome

There’s no such thing as an RS30…does it have just one bell? Then it could be an RS31…if it has 3 it is an RS-3-L.

Here are some pics. Sorry they didn’t post. You are correct there is three horns.

I’d still like to see the pics, I love seeing different horns lol You can host the pics without having to register or anything at www.tinypic.com and then just paste the [img] link they provide here.

Welcome aboard man. Could you have bought a bigger set? LOL

hay man welcome to the forum got a leslie cool.

Hey again Thanks everyone. Can’t wait to get them should be here by Sat. at latest.

Welcome to the forums !

Hey Big Red,
How close to Gettysburg are you?

I live in Frederick Co. about 25 mins from Gettysburg

Oh and just FYI. I got my Leslies to today. OMG are they loud!!! I hooked them up to my shop Air at 125psi and wow!!! Now I need to get the stuff to install them on my truck. I’m a little confused. The metal tag on the horn reads RS 3 BR. The horns are 44-55 and 37 so I don’t even know what I have as this is very new to me still.

What you have is half of an RS-5-T… the other half would have bells 25 and 31. That has a very high tone compared to the RS-3-L which has bells 25, 31, and 44. Those were used on trains where an RS-5-T wouldn’t fit on the same side so they would split them up into two separate horns… hope I’m not confusing you lol Oh and tthat horn is way smaller than an RS-3-L since it doesn’t have the biggest bells Leslie makes, the 25 and 31 so should make for easier mounting.

Thanks for the info. I read on here somewhere on how to disasemble the horns for clean and such but now I can’t find it. I want to turn the middle horn around so they all face forward. Will I need new gasgets or anything before I do this?

Not unless the ones you have are torn. Just take the 3 bolts holding the middle bell to the power chamber and spin it around. There should be a gasket on both sides of the manifold, one for the power chamber and one for the bell. Your horn could leak when you honk if they are torn.

Post us some pictures of that bad boy!
