Help for a Newb!

ok i have no idea where to post this so ill try here… just joined the forum today. im looking at a set of leslie rs3k on the internet for $400… first off is this a good price? secondly i need help with the setup. i know it will involve a rather large air tank but i need some specifics on the tank size and compressor size and such…
thanks

bump… come on guys could i get a little advice here?

Welcome to the forums.

That’s a good price if they are in good working order. How much is the rest of your budget? Bigger is better with the Leslies as far as air volume…

they have just been rebuilt… new gaskets and hardware and such. i understand that bigger is better for every horn…ha i owned a small set from hornblaster previously with a 2 gallon tank and i know that these horns will take alot more than that… but as far as what size tank goes well with what compressor is what gets me… if you could give me some insight as to where i should go with that?
thanks

Right, but moreso with the Leslies. For comparison’s sake, they eat more air than Nathan Airchimes. Generally, the minimums for Nathans are 5 Gallons for a K3 and 8.5 gallons for a K5.

I never hear of people running 200psi with Leslies…so you can either buy 150psi compressor(s) and pressure switch or go higher and use a regulator for the horns.

The compressors are rated (warrantied) for 5 gallons worth of tank. So if you do an 8.5 gallon tank, you technically need two compressors to be within the warranty. A lot of guys do the 12 gallon tank with dual compressors.

So it’s budget -vs- fill time -vs- available room -vs- goals -vs- warrantee tolerance.

Welcome to the forum.

ear2ear is referring to Viair, maybe Air Zenith, and some other small compressors concerning the 5 gallon tank warranty. Oasis compressors are only limited by their duty cycle and our smallest model, the XD3000, can fill up to 200 gallons from 0 to 150 PSI (35 minutes) before it needs to cool down. Our XD4000 has a continuous duty cycle so it can fill just about any size tank.
