alright I have a regular kit. Tank and compressor r in tool box. horns urnder truck. I used to have a system so I tied the wire for the regulator to the power cable that went to my amp. Then the other wire off the regulator to the compressor. Then compressor ground. We put a small button in the dash and connected it to a constant positive feed and then the other wire off the button to the electric solenoid valve on the horns. Then ground valve. Everything worked great for a couple hours then all of a sudden nothing.
The button stopped working. When I hit the button there was no sound of the valve that I always heard before. We thought the button just blew cause of how small of a button we put on. but we took the button off and just put the 2 wires together to spark like a button and still nothing. And the fuse for the button is not blown cause we are still getting spark from the 2 wires. The only thing I can think of is the electric solonoid valve. Cause everything else is working. But the guy I bought them from says they almost never go out??? I need help!!! Thanks
What kind of kit is this and who did you get it from… what kind of valve is it
Its not a kit of any kind. I just bought it from a friend. He put all the parts together. The horn has an electric solenoid valve that is part of the actual horns. This is the valve it uses http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/webcart_productDisplay.php?itemid=27930&itemdesc=Electric+Solenoid+Valve+for+Train+Horn
It uses good parts he just didnt do a kit from a company.
Those are from the chrome horns. Those valves never last long. That was a big issue with those things.
yeah those are really cheap valves… give hornblasters a call and get you a smc or airlift valve…
are those the same type of valves but better? Cause I really Just wanna get the same type that can screw back in??? Thanks.
I used this one and it works nicely
it is a bit larger but has an adaptor so it can screw into the horn. my horn got a bit louder because of the added airflow.
Ok Ill try and order that valve today. But just hope it was the valves fault that it went out, and not something in the wiring.
oh and djQUAN, what is that valve rated for. Cause my tank and regulator go to 200 psi.
I have no idea. I only run mine at 125psi so it’s not a problem for mine. give hornblasters a call, they might be able to help.
Aight thanks everyone. I hopefully will have the problem fixed on thursday when I get in the new valve from hornblaster.
Did you make sure it had a good ground?
yea man got the new valve in and its runnin like a champ and is now a hole lot louder! Thanks
