help needed, not sure what to do.

so i was removing this fitting when it sheared right off leaving the rest of it stuck in the treads of the port. apart from getting a new tank i dont know what to do.

I tried a few things but nothing worked

Mate, if it were me I would simply carefully drill it out & then just re tap the thread, you should be able to find a drill bit that is just a tiny fraction bigger than the hole, and then carefully drill out the fitting. Then tap out the thread again.
Be sure to make sure you get all the swarf out of the tank before filling with air.

yah thats an option, but i would need to get a tap and die set. i think there about 90-100 dollars, but i could get another tank for 65 dollars… and sell the other one…

Maybe something like this…

^^Ditto.

I’ve used these before and they work like a charm. Then just re-tap the threads to clean them out and you’ll be set.

Yes just use a easy out and a little heat. No need to re tap the threads.

If you can’t get out with a ez out extractor. you can try an internal pipe wrench. If you re chase the threads make sure you use a tap for pipe thread (NPT). You don’t have to buy a whole tap and die set. you can purchase them individually at Ace hardware and other places. Pic of tap is for reference.

Trust me … re-tap it after you remove that piece. It’ll remove the pipe tape/pipe dope you used to install the now broken fitting and helps the new stuff you use seal up the replacement.
