I have the classic 4 hours with a viar air 280c compressor and 2 gallon tank.
I can not get my tank to hold pressure. It has to be some there between the valve and my hose fitting. I ran into a problem well installing today i have 5/16 tubes and partys for the horns and the male end out by the compressor is 1/4 so i went to the local store and got parts to make it work (1/4 tubbing into a 1/4- 5/16inducer.) then from the inducer it then connects to the 5 /16 hose. I have all the threads from the valve back wrapped a i had a small leak down by the valve i had found tapped it up gone… and when i take my inducer and what 1/4 fitting off and all so its just the male end of the part and put my thumb over it it seems to hold more pressure. any suggestions
try spraying all the fittings with soapy water when the system is fully pressurized and tighten any fittings that bubble. You could also try using Loctite 545 sealant on all of the fittings. I have the stuff but I never used it because I just torqued the hell out of the fittings (1/2 fittings arent so easy to do that to. lol.) so I dont have any leaks. There are some people on here that have completely leak-free systems but I don’t care enough to make that happen.:D. hope i helped.
thanks ill try that
Be careful if using compression fittings with plastic pipe tubing. Or are you using push to lock fittings? If so all cuts have to be square. Alot of times because of the painted tanks the thread have paint in them which sometimes booger up things. Thread sealant a good way to go as suggested. Clean all the paint off of the internal threads. blow out tank and put sealant on threads to it can seal up high on the threads where they start to taper. Then pressure rise and leak check with soap bubbles and look around all fittings. if big well ya know you will see a lot of movement. If minute it will bleed out slowly but enough to make the pressure control cycle. So if its minute the bubbles will be small. YOu can use a flash light to lok real close to see around fittings. I use that method in my Refrigeration and Ac work.
Good luck,
John
Did you get it fixed man?
Thanks for all the advice on the leaks guys but both of them where just my stupidy… not im out of my own guessing my compressor turned off out of no where ran great and just now died out. It was well vented so i know it didnt over heat and i checked my wires i have power running to it so is there maybe a fuse inside the compressor.
I think I know where all the other wires hookup at but where does the red connector with the two prongs hook up at?
are you talking about a pressure switch like this
If so, 1 goes to your fused wire to the battery, and another one goes to your 12 volt ignition source.
^^^ Correct!
Trigger=Fused Ignition Source
This confuses customers VERY often. Alot of times they run the trigger to a toggle switch or valve. I don’t understand why ViAir labeled it ‘trigger.’
