So I have a Leslie rs3l I have a 1/2 valve on the manifold . I hooked up my horns to a 20’ long piece of 3/8 I.d. hose to my 10lb co2 bottle and they where loud as Hell . Will I notice any difference in sound if I switch to a 1/2" I.d. line? I really don’t wanna have to buy new stuff if I can help it. And am I wrong in putting the valve on the manifold or should I move it down line some? Thanx Chris
you may will notice a difference with bigger ID hose. with Leslie’s i would go 3/4 OD line, im about to install that for my k3’s. i got my 3/4 line and special 3/4 line to 1/2 NPT fittings at http://www.airedup.com/store/index.php
If you can afford it, the bigger the better.
Thanx for the input guys I ended up going with 1/2" I.d. from lowes and fittings . And putting the horns where my spare tire is
It’s never about pressure with these horns, but volume. Most trains will blow their horns with around 120 PSI but the sheer volume of air the compressor produces is where the loudness comes from.

So running 1/2" line is what I wanted? I’m running a 20lb co2 bottle 1/2" line and a valve on the manifold is this good? Oh and round 120 psi like you stated
If your CO2 bottle can provide the volume, roughly 90 to 100 CFM, your horns will sound great.
Well I must say my 20 lb co2 bottle has the volume for the Leslie horns and they sound just awesome
That cant be true
There are no such regulators for co2 tanks.
Your horn are probably loud! Yes half loud!
Follow my thread, I’ll get an answer!
So after reading your other post what type of regulator do i need to switch to? The one from the 4x4 site that someone posted? Thanx
Is that what you have?
Did You see the chart on the cfm?
Have you compares your horn?
Thanks for the help
I have just a regular regulator from a soda company.
Well that’s what they call a hiflo hyperflo… Regulator.
The thing is it would only output 33 cfm and we would need 2 or 3 times this much…
Do you have a video so I can listen to your horns?
No I don’t have a video. I just took them off ky truck cause I traded it un so I waiting till spring to put them back on
