Help with install?

hey fellas, new to the forum. bought a conductor special model 232 couple months ago. was wondering if anyone was located near colorado springs, CO that would be willing to help with the install. the trouble im having is how to wire the compressor and horns. i have a 2006 2500hd duramax, my name is Dave, thanks for reading and hope to hear from someone.

Congratulations on your new Shockers. Sounds like you have the physical install (i.e. tank and horns) sorted. Nice thing with those HB kits is that everything is included. So what sort of trouble are you having with your wiring?

Here’s some minor tips:

  1. Main Power Wire (12V) - Run this straight from your battery to where you have the pressure switch and tank. Don’t forget to put that big fuse in that line.

  2. Find a good earth (this is really important). Usually somewhere near the compressor so you don’t run a long cable for the ground. Be mindful though that the utility trays on trucks are generally mounted on rubber grommets and don’t constitute a good earth. The best earth is against the chassis somewhere.

  3. The switch wire (12V) on the pressure switch, which basically tells the air system (i.e. compressor) to become active. You can either run that from an Accessory line (which can be somewhat tricky to find) or another straight line from the battery (via an on/off switch)

  4. Last but not least is the solenoid wires. If you want to trigger the horns with the standard steering wheel button, the easiest way to hook that up is to put one of the wires to earth (just mount to the chassis somewhere near the solenoid) and then run the other wire to where your stock horn is and splice it into the wire coming out of your horn. You can line another on/off switch into that line so you can choose if the horns go off with the stock ones or not.

Here’s a basic diagram:

If you have trouble finding an accessory wire or the right points to tap into, try any auto electrical or vehicle audio shop. If it’s only a matter of hooking up a few wires they probably won’t charge much to finish it off for you.

Welcome to the forum Dave. If you’re old like me and don’t want to DIY see if there’s an air suspension installer in your area.
